From time to time Federal, Provincial and Municipal governments offer incentive schemes to encourage homeowners to install more energy efficient and environmentally friendly equipment. When it comes to home comfort systems, like furnaces and air conditioners, there always seems to be some kind of rebate available. But they’re not always easy to figure out. Or actually obtain. Currently the government rebates are in a high state of flux. New schemes are being announced regularly, old schemes updated and we keep our finger on the pulse to know about each befoe thet are announced or discontinued and prepare our customers accordingly. Here is some background information to asssist you. Though we have made every effort to ensure the information is correct we do however recommend you contact us to get the latest update.
Ontario Climate Change Action Plan
Last year the provincial government announced a comprehensive action plan to reduce greenhouse gas emmission and encourage Ontario residents to adopt new environmentally freindly technology. The Climate Change Acton Plan provides an overview. Over the course of the next several years specific individual programs will be announce with timing and incentive details.
GreenON is part of the Ontario Climatre Change action plan and has an extensive number of rebates about for installing energy saving solutions. Most attractive is the up to $20,000 to install a new geothermal heating system. See our Geothermal rebates page for more details of the geothermal offers. Rebates available include:
- New Geothermal system up to $20000 in rebates
- Air Source Heat Pump - Up to $5800 in rebates
- Up to $4500 to repair or replace an existing heat pump
- $100 rebate towards a smart thermostat
No energy audit required, you just need to work with a participating contractor such as McCreas.
Save On Energy program
Operated by the The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), the heating and cooling incentive program offers rebates on high efficiency furnaces, Energy Star certified Central Air Conditioning, ECM Circulating pumps, Air Source Heat Pumps and adapative thermostats.
Enbridge Gas Rebates
Also connected to the IESO scheme Enbridge Gas offer rebates on the purchase and installation by an approved installer such as McCrea's ClimateCare of up to $1600.

Air Source Heat Pump: Up to $5,800
For installing a ducted or ductless ASHP; amount of rebate depends on specifics of the installation.
Central Air Conditioner: $600
Central Air Conditioner model must be ENERGY STAR® certified with a minimum seasonal energy efficiency (SEER) ratio of 18 and a minimum energy efficiency ratio (EER) of 13. Must have a qualifying indoor coil
Furnace or Boiler: Up to $1,000
FURNACE – replace a 94% or lower efficiency with a 95% AFUE or higher
BOILER – replace an 89% or lower efficiency with a 90% AFUE or higher ENERGY STAR® condensing gas boiler
Water Heater: $500
For replacing your water heater with 0.80 EF or higher tank natural gas or propane water heater or;
For replacing your water heater with 0.82 EF or higher tankless natural gas or propane water heater
Pre and Post Energy audits are required.

*ClimateCare is not responsible for the administration or payment of the major gas distribution company cash incentive portion. Two energy audits are required in order to qualify.
